FireFox and Chrome are now able to "talk" to each other via the Internet. Basically, this will enable applications such as video chat and softphones to be built without requiring people to download or install anything extra for their FireFox or Chrome browser.
Most people will not perceive the importance of this new functionality but what it means is that web developers can now begin to build solid unified communications offerings. Subsequently, demand should drop for existing softphones and people will be able to easily use their Internet browser and an earpiece to do full-featured video chat!
